Comedy Night Benefits Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan

Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan’s annual Comedy Night event returns with boundless laughs for a fantastic cause.

Hosted at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak on Oct. 18, this year features comedian Tommy Johnagin. Johnagin has been seen on Comedy Central and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

The annual Comedy Night is Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan’s signature fundraising event. Last year’s event raised more than $33,000 for the Pontiac based non-profit.

“The outpouring of support of our event each year helps us to  provide beds and other needed furniture to local children and families in need,” said Robert Boyle, Executive Director, Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan. “In 2011 alone, our organization was able to provide more than 10,000 items to 2,300 families who are living in poverty, transitioning from homelessness or fleeing crisis situations. We hope to be able to help even more this year.”

Known for their “clean humor” both Johnagin and opening act “Nice Guy” Trevor Smith will take the stage to entertain. In addition, the evening features a live auction and 50/50 raffle. Auction items include sporting event tickets, including four Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day tickets with parking pass, exclusive golf outings, and a one-of-a-kind designer chair.

Guests will have the opportunity to nosh on sample fare provided by such local favorites as Black Finn, Rock on 3rd, Town Tavern, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Tickets for Comedy Night are $40 and can be purchased online at www.furniture-bank.org or by phone at 248-332-1300 x200. Purchase price includes reception and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Cash bar is available. Valet parking is also on hand for $6.
