Hollywood Market Supports Hunger Free Summer

Today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Hollywood Markets will be raising funds with volunteers from Forgotten Harvest, Gleaners and Charter One, help to provide 2 million meals to hungry southeast Michigan children this summer through the Hunger Free Summer campaign.

Each dollar donated provides eight meals through summer lunch distributions, mobile pantries and other programs aimed at getting kids the nutritious food they need.

"More than 300,000 children in southeast Michigan receive free or reduced-fee meals during the school year," Gleaners Community Food Bank said in a statement. "In the summer months, they often go without."

Hunger Free Summer donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Charter One Foundation, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hiller’s and The Young Foundation.
