Oktoberfest 2012 at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church
BIRMINGHAM, MI – Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2225 E. 14 Mile Road in Birmingham, will host its 8th annual Oktoberfest celebration on Friday, Sept. 21
through Sunday, September 23. This family-friendly event that started as a simple idea to celebrate all things German has blossomed into one of Southeast Michigan’s most authentic and best attended Oktoberfests, which now includes Polish day on Sunday.
This year’s event includes many free things for kids, including a free petting zoo on Saturday and Sunday, free carnival games and bounce houses, free balloon art, and free movies under the stars at dusk. The festival schedule is:
- Friday, Sept. 21 – Live DJ and Karaoke Party 6 pm to 11 pm
- Saturday, Sept. 22 – Family 5K fun run/walk at 11 am and the Oktoberfest from Noon – 11 pm featuring
live music, games, German foods and more - Sunday, Sept. 23 – Big Daddy Lackowski and the La Dee Da’s 12:30 to 5 pm
The festival will feature authentic German and Polish foods, beer and wine, games and activities for kids, moonwalks, and more.
“This is by far the best Oktoberfest line-up you will find anywhere in the area,” says Franklin Dohanyos, Event Chairman. “We’ve worked hard to make this event
very authentic and family oriented, and have kept food and drink prices low so people can stay and enjoy it more. It’s a fun time for all and it’s also a great way to do community outreach and share fellowship.”
Admission for this year’s Oktoberfest is only $5 for people three and up, with a two-for-one special on Sunday. For more information about the 2012 Oktoberfest, and Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and School, please call 248/646-6100 or www.osloktoberfest.com or http://www.ourshepherd.net.
