Players, Coaches Reconnect at Basketball Alumni Game
On Thursday, more than 20 former Royal Oak High School, Dondero High School, and Kimball High School alumni returned to play in the 2nd Annual Royal Oak Girls Basketball Alumni Game.
Teams this year were divided into a Black Alumni Team and a Blue Alumni Team. This year the Blue team came out on top 29-24. Leading the way for the Blue team was Elizabeth Curtis (ROHS 2011) leading the way with 10 points. Former ROHS Varsity Assistant Coach Caitie Goddard added 7 points. Leading the way for the Black team was Beathrice Terrell (ROHS 2010) with 8 points. Mariah Gardziola (ROHS 2012) added 6.
Former Kimball Girls Basketball Coaches Frank Clouser and Andre Harding returned to the sidelines to coach each of the teams. Frank Clouser coached the Girls Basketball Team at Kimball during the 1980s and end of the 1990s. Coach Harding took over in the late 1990s and was the final coach at Kimball High School. Both coaches won league titles and had great success while at Kimball.
Much of the success for the night belongs to current Royal Oak Varsity Assistant Coach Trisha Fantucci. Fantucci, a graduate of Kimball High School (KHS 1999) organizes the event through social media such as facebook and handles all the game day details.
The night was a great success with former players and coaches catching up and reconnecting.
