At its Organizational Meeting Thursday, the Royal Oak Board of Education elected the following officers for 2012:

President – Gary Briggs

Vice-President – Deborah Anderson

Secretary – Marty Cardamone

Treasurer – Michael Hartman

Carrie Beerer, Lisa Bradford and Jeff Brinker will serve as trustees.

The role of the school board is to articulate the District's vision, mission and goals and to develop policies to achieve them. The Board encourages continuous improvement in student learning and advocates at the local, state, and federal levels in support of public education. Most critically, the school board makes decisions which affect our children: what they learn, who will teach them, who will support their learning, and what kinds of facilities house their classrooms.

“I am grateful for each and every one of them and their service to our schools,” said Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin.
