ROYSA Teams Victorious in TBAY's Autumn Classic

ROYSA took to the road and headed north this past weekend for the Annual TBAY's Autumn Classic soccer tournament in Traverse City.

ROYSA estimated numbers surrounding the event:

  • Estimated 22500 miles driven
  • More than 360 hours on the road to travel to and from
  • Over 80 Hotel rooms rented
  • At least 150 family members and fans present
  • Over 90 Players
  • 6 Teams entered
  • 3 making it to Championship Rounds
  • 2 Champions

An exciting and well run tournament with beautiful weather, great sportsmanship and competition all weekend. Three teams made it to the championship round with two being crowned division champions.

Coach Cheryl Pehkonen's U16 Girls making it to finals with a tie and two victories. They were bested in the finals by a Midland team that scored 23 goals against opponents, and not allowing any goals against.

Coach John Giancotti's U13 Boys were untouchable in their first three games outscoring opponents by a 9-0 margin.  In the finals they gave up their first goal of the weekend but dominated with a 4-1 victory over North Storm.

Coach Shannon Pietras's U10 girls sailed through their first three games with a 12-2 margin. Facing WAZA in what would be considered the finals they were clearly the champions with a 4-1 victory.

A very impressive showing in a highly visible event for Royal Oak Youth Soccer Association.
