The Detroit 48 Hour Music Video Project Comes to Detroit
From the team that brings you the Detroit 48HFP comes the 48 Hour Music Video project making its debut in 2012 here in Detroit. We're looking for at least ten bands, ten film teams and 10 music videos - all made in just 48 hours. The filming weekend will be Friday November 9th through Sunday November 11th, 2012. The music videos will then screen at a public venue later in November 2012. The winning video screens nationally at the awards ceremony at Filmapalooza in 2013.
How it works
Bands and film teams sign up to make a music video in one weekend, following standard rules of the 48HFP. Bands bring a completed and recorded original song to the Kick off. At the Kick Off (Friday Nov. 9th) bands and teams are randomly assigned to each other via a drawing process. 48 Hours later at the drop off, the music videos are completed.
Anyone can join! Bands/songwriters will be required to provide an original song which they wrote and recorded (no covers). Musicians of all genres are welcome: rock bands, singer songwriters, rappers, solo artists.
Premiere screenings
Every video is guaranteed a screening at a theatre location to be announced, at the 48 Music Video Project (48MVP) Premier and Awards Ceremony, just days after the films are turned in.
Judging
Three judges will select the Best Film and the Best Song. Many other winning categories will be awarded such as Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Band Stage Presence and others. The winners will be announced at the screening and winners will receive their awards.
