K2/Spice is a dried herbal blend that is sprayed with an analgesic chemical JWH-028 or JWH-073, which creates a high often classified as similar to marijuana, however the risks can cause erratic/psychotic behavior or death. In recent months, K2/Spice was linked to the death of a teen in Birmingham this past weekend and newspaper headlines allude to heinous US crimes by persons who smoke it.
Package labeling warns consumers that it should be used as incense and is not for human consumption. Despite the warning, K2 Spice has grown in popularity as an alternative to marijuana because it is easily accessible and untraceable in drug screens within two hours after use. Nationally, 352 cases of illness due to ingesting K2 Spice have been reported to the Poison Control Center, since February of 2010.
What does it do?
Just because K2/Spice will be illegal soon, you still need to know the health risks and share it with your child. Many people have made a huge profits from selling it and its worldwide so it's likely to go underground after President Obama signs into law, K2/Spice to be illegal to use, sell or manufacture.
According to Michigan Community Health Patients are presenting to emergency departments with elevated heart rates and blood pressure, drowsiness, agitation, hallucinations, seizures, tremors (shaking), vomiting, paranoia, and loss of physical control. There has been several related death in Michigan and criminal activity associates with it use. The long-term health effects are not fully known.
