If you haven’t heard that Camp Casey is in the running to win $250,000 courtesy of Chase Community Giving, then we clearly have not been hitting the social media outlets hard enough! We are trying to maintain that fine balance between consistent promotion and, well, let’s just call it what it is: spam. So, in an effort to rein in our great desire to post a reminder every 5 minutes, we’ve taken to an old-fashioned method of promotion: emailing!
We know there is some seriously stiff competition for the big payday, but Chase is actually offering $5M in grant money, so the top 150 charities will receive some type of funding even if they aren’t the overall winner. So, even if you see us lagging behind the top spot, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t vote (every vote counts – isn’t that what they taught us in Civics class?). We need to stay in the top 150 and to avoid an end-of-campaign surge of votes that will drive us out of the running, we need a healthy margin between our rank and #150.
We’re currently at #102 with 380 votes. The #1 charity has over 5,000. So it’s not an insurmountable difference (in fact, if all of our FB and Twitter follows voted for us, we’d be at over 4,000 votes), but we definitely need to get some horsepower behind us in order to close the gap.
So, help us TrotTheVote! Consider it a bipartisan warm-up for November.
Bonus: If you’re a social media-head, you can earn extra votes by sharing this info on your FB and Twitter accounts. After you vote, you’ll see the Tweet & Like buttons. Simply push them and if someone follows/votes from your link, you’ll automatically get another vote!
