48 Hour Film Project Sets Schedule for Films to Screen at Emagine Royal Oak
More than 61 local teams made short films in just 48 hours as part of a global competition. Movies will be shown Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Metro Detroit teams participating in the 48 Hour Film Project successfully completed their weekend of filmmaking. Projects were turned in Sunday by sleep-deprived filmmakers from throughout Metro Detroit, rushing to get their films in on time.
The 48 Hour Film Project is actually a global competition that challenges teams to complete a short film in a compressed time frame. Groups set out Friday night given only a genre, one character, one line and a prop.
The completed film projects will be screened Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Emagine Royal Oak.
An awards ceremony will be held July 24 at the Orchid Ferndale in a private event open to the filmmakers who participated in this year's 48 Hour Film Project. The winner of Best Film of Detroit will have an opportunity to sign a Development Deal with truTV for $5,000.
