I missed tonites meeting due to another obligation, however once again, for the upteenth time I wonder while this wonderful show goes on that the adjacent "Stardream Park"( That is the name I would asign it) goes pathetically neglected. Where is the Library Board? where is Parks and Recreation? Where is Mayor Ellison, and the rest of the counci?.
Why? Why? does this Park go so neglected in plantings, benches and maintenance by the city? "Royal Oak in Bloom" is the perfect opportunity to begin to attack the problem with butterfly and hummingbird friendly plantings such as trumpet vines, and Wisteria, and roses, lots of roses. In a way Royal Oak's Stardream Fountain is like our mother's front yard and is there a better day or a better way to honor all the hard work our city "moms" and "dads" have done for us in those days gone by. Stardream needs your help. What do you think? Please comment with constructive suggestions other than telling me who to ask. Been there, done that.

Mayor Ellison and his bar money loving majority on the commission have NO interest in resident services, our neighborhoods or the parks. The grass in the park in my neighborhood is almost up to your knees, the children trip and fall trying to walk through it to get to the play structure.
We lowly residents trying to scrape by in this economy just don’t contribute enough money to their campaign chests. Meanwhile, it’s the taxes collected from homeowners that pay all the costs to run the city.
But there’s hope Mr. Wolf---Maybe if you could round up some of the bar crowd to go to the podium at the next commission meeting and say they would drink more and make the bar owner’s more money if they could enjoy some roses in the park I betcha roses would be planted in the parks immediately.

Worth repeating

One other thing, not all of Royal Oak is not entirely disfunctional, albeit its definitely mislead by some with ulterior selfish motives centering on personal greed. The parks crew has notified us of their problems with the unsusual early spring rains. Potholes are being addressed as soon as they are reported. Fire and police do respond though that is always eternally held as a threat by the council to extort more money for the general fund cookie jar. Have seen this before in other metro-burbs like ours.

Some good news, the Fresard property has been tentatively sold and plans are for a mixed use hotel, apartment, office, conference and catering center with bar. This would make Royal Oak a REAL live city just like Pinnochio was made into a real live boy.
Perhaps now city hall that presently runs on fuel supplied by the dispensers of Belvedere and Hennesey will no longer be able to cry crocodile tears about cash.
That is unless the council is in the process, or has already been "bribed" to issue abatements. I would not like to see what happenned with E-Magine Theater to be repeated here. Residents like yourself should be fed up with having the council's hands in your pockets to support their bar buds. The council and the DDA are a little too close. You can't ride two horses at the same time.
