The Royal Oak Historical Society was host to a Classic Car Show Wednesday in the parking lot behind the Historical Society Museum at 1411 W. Webster.

"My car has never been shown before," said Molly O'Neall-Close, a Royal Oak resident for 34 years. O'Neall-Close said she was very proud of the museum and the event. "It shows off our wonderful community," she said. "This is a great place for families to come."

By 1 p.m. nearly 50 cars were registered.

"It's awesome," said event coordinator Randy Burean. "We didn't know what to expect. We have never done this before. I'm really happy with the turnout."

People's Choice trophies were presented to first, second and third place winners, and the first 75 entries were entitled to a dash plaque, Burean said.
