New Owners to Revamp, Reopen Onion Roll Deli

If you've been down Woodward Avenue recently, you may have noticed things have gone dark at Onion Roll Deli—but it shouldn't be quiet for long. 

A representative of Cassino Building and Development said the building located at 27302 Woodward Ave. is undergoing major renovations on the interior, but the name and the sign will stay for the sake of nostalgia.

"The Onion Roll Deli is not going to bowl you over with its decor, but in a place like this, the decor doesn't even come into play," wrote Joe Hakim in a 2011 review. The deli focused on serving sandwiches with meat sliced to order on thick cut rye or pumpernickel bread, he said..

No word on the new menu or an opening date.
