Pet of the Week: Kitty Seeks Fun Home

Mandy, a beautifully colored cat, is available for adoption at the Royal Oak Animal Shelter.

At nearly a year old, Mandy is a loving kitty ready to leave her cage at the for a friendly family. She loves getting out of her cage to explore and say hello to her fellow shelter friends.

Mandy is a kind cat with lots of love. She enjoys being held and chin scratches. When Mandy doesn't think she's receiving enough attention, she likes to show off by rolling around.

“She's just so friendly,” said Lisa Yaeck, a staffer at the animal shelter. “She loves being the center of attention and being held.”

The 11-month-old cat is definitely shows her age when it comes to playtime. She loves using her paws to grab and poke things. She's pretty quick on her feet, too.

Weighing in at only 6 pounds, Mandy is a slender feline. Hers is a tortie coloring and has golden eyes. Mandy's fur is short in length and incredibly soft. Her nose is a unique coloring of most black, with a touch of pink.

Mandy isn't picky about her food, but tends to eat the wet food first. She also enjoys the occasional treats and cat nip.

Any house setting should do fine for Mandy. She doesn't mind other cats, dogs or children.

If your family is looking for a lovable, young cat stop by the to meet Mandy. She is fully house trained and up to date on her shots. She is not currently spayed, but staffers hope to get her fixed soon.

Want to offer the shelter some assistance but it's not the right time for a pet adoption? The at restaurant will be hosting the Fur-Get-Me-Not Animal Shelter Fundraiser. The event will take place 5-8:30 p. m. June 14. Silent auction items include a bowling party at the new Star Lanes, jewelry, Detroit Tiger tickets and other fabulous items. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the .
