Local tree services are doing a brisk business in Royal Oak on Monday as the sound of wood chippers and generators continue to fill the air in the aftermath of .

Utility repair trucks dot neighborhoods from Greenfield to Crooks as crews clear tree branches and repair downed power lines.

A crew from the Hydaker-Wheatlake Co. was working on a utility pole on Parkway just south of Normandy on Monday morning trying to solve a "multitude of problems" and get the neighorbood back online. A main powerline went down in front of a home on Normandy at Hillside and lines were down in the backyards of the homes along that street.

Things were starting to return to normal for some residents as tree limbs were cut up and removed or moved to the tree lawn and power came back on.

Amy Totonchi and her family returned from a week up north Sunday evening and couldn't believe what they saw along their street, even though friends had called to warn them a large tree limb had gone down toward their house on North Verona Circle.

"It was amazing. There were branches everywhere," she said "We were really lucky ... it (the tree limb) knocked down our flagpole, but that's it."
