Police Blotter: Door-to-Door Salesman Says Homeowners Pointed Gun at Him

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Reports to the during the past week:

Man pointed gun at him, solicitor says

1300 block of Etowah, Jan. 9:  A man reported that while going door-to-door soliciting with a valid solicitation permit, a homeowner answered the door and pointed a handgun at him. This incident is under investigation.  

Group gets rowdy at IHOP

, 29202 Woodward, Jan. 7:  Royal Oak officers responded to the report of a disorderly group inside the restaurant. During the investigation, one of the people pushed a Royal Oak officer. the man was arrested for assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

Homes invaded

3023 W. Thirteen Mile, Jan. 5:  A woman reported that someone entered her apartment and threw flower, spices and food all over the floors.  Nothing appeared to be taken but the apartment was left in disarray. 

600 block of N. Center, Jan. 5:  A woman reported that someone pried open her front door and stole a TV, a laptop computer, jewelry and a Sony camera.

4400 block of Judson, Jan. 6:  A woman reported that someone entered her apartment and stole two laptop computers and jewelry.  

Breaking and entering

2000 block of Northwood, Jan. 7:  A man reported that someone attempted to pry open his garage door. The garage door was damaged but the person did not get into the garage.

Items taken from cars

500 block of S. Blair, Jan. 6:  A man reported that someone punched the side door lock on his van and stole several tools.  

4400 block of Sedgemoor, Jan. 7:  A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole several tools.  

Car stolen

, 25766 Woodward, Jan. 11:  A man reported that his 1993 Chevy van was parked in the lot awaiting service when someone stole it.             

Other Incidents:

1500 block of Maryland Club Drive, Jan. 5 (Occurred on 12-21-11):  A woman reported that someone stole two Fed-Ex packages that had been delivered to her home. 

1000 of N. Lafayette, Jan. 5:  A woman reported that someone stole some jewelry from inside her home.  There were no signs of a break-in and it is believed that the person was someone that was allowed inside the home. 

100 block of Oakdale, Jan. 5:  The Hazel Park Police Department informed Royal Oak Police that a person involved in strong armed robbery that occurred in Hazel Park might be living at a home on Oakdale.  Royal Oak officers responded to the area, located the person, and detained him for Hazel Park Police.

, 3450 W. 13 Mile, Jan. 6:  A report was made that someone stole fifty-six bags of salt from the side of the Waltonwood building.  

900 block of N. Stephenson, Jan. 6:  A woman reported that someone scratched the hood, trunk and sides of her vehicle.  

1300 block of Whitcomb, Jan. 7:  A man reported that someone broke the rear window of his 2009 Cadillac while it was parked in the driveway. No entry was gained into the vehicle and nothing was missing.  

1800 block of E. Lincoln, Jan. 9:  A man reported that someone broke the rear driver’s side window of his vehicle with some type of pellet gun.  

Second and Center Street, Jan. 10:  A Royal Oak Police patrol car was parked in the parking lot when someone broke the spotlight off of the vehicle.  

, 2123 Roseland, Jan. 11:  A person reported that someone stole an item from the nativity scene in front of the church.
