The city of Royal Oak has declared a snow emergency effective at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday.
The winter weather advisory extends into the morning, according to the National Weather Service. The snow is expected to lighten up early and temperatures will hover just above freezing, which means the snow that does accumulate will be heavy and wet.
According to the city, "snow emergency conditions are generally defined as a snowfall of four inches or more and will remain in effect until your street has been plowed." City officials said all vehicles parked on residential streets are to be removed or will be towed. It takes about 24-36 hours to plow all city streets, depending on how much snow has fallen.

So a snow emergency means we need to get the cars out of the street. Does this also mean the the snow plows must plow my street or be towed or ticketed. I will believe it when I see it. North Royal Oak!!!!

While I am glad that they plan to plow my street after this event, we only received about two inches of snow.

It seems to me the City of Royal Oak is taking advantage of the residents again! I got home to find a ticket on my wife’s car for $50... or after 72 hours $100. That is ridicules.
No way did the couple of inches of show warrant any kind of emergency; it’s warm and melting already. It's just another arbitrary tax!
What are they doing with all of our money???

Last snow emergency police threatened to ticket us for parking over sidewalk. When I explained to officer that we had to get it off the street...he said "Can't be over sidewalk" and had us move it back to street ("I won't give you a ticket this time"). And now today (sure enough, ignorance never sleeps) we were threatened with ticket because it was on the street. Police answer to dilemma: park in a city lot and get a ride to lot. Amazing that I did not think of this! Now, how to give myself a ride to lot and back while leaving car there...
