UPDATE: 560 Still Without Power Monday after Saturday Storm

Many Royal Oak residents face another day of no electricity or are running generators after heavy winds and rains rolled through the northern part of the city Saturday.

Update, 11:45 p.m.: Power is coming back tonight for many Royal Oak residents who have been without electricity since Saturday afternoon's storm. According to DTE's power outage map, the areas that include Normandy and south to 13 Mile and Normandy north toward 14 Mile and east of Woodward has been restored. The Young family, who lives on Edgar just east of Coolidge and south of Normandy, reported getting its power back about 10:30 p.m. About 560 customers remain without power, most south of Normand on either side of Coolidge.

5:55 p.m.: Roughly 1,500 DTE customers remain without power after Saturday's storm, according to the utility's power outage map. The hardest hit areas are the neighborhoods between 13 Mile and Normandy west of Woodward, north of Normandy east of Woodward and south of Normandy east of Coolidge. There are 1,467 customers without power in the 48073 ZIP code and just 49 in the 48067 area.

8:25 a.m. Monday: DTE continues to restore power to customers who were victims of . There are now 1,998 customers still without power, down from more than 7,000 at the peak of the outage Saturday.

10:30 p.m. Sunday: A little more than 2,200 customers were still without power Sunday night, down from more than 4,000 customers without power Sunday afternoon. DTE Energy hoped to get most power restored by end of the night.

DTE spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba said an estimated 60,000 customers lost power after Saturday's severe weather. He said  was the hardest hit, with 7,081 customers in the city without power just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
