Veterans Day Ceremony in Royal Oak

The Royal Oak Memorial Society hosted a Veterans Day ceremony this morning to honor military veterans at the Veterans War Memorial Plaza between City Hall and  the Royal Oak Public Library.

The ceremony included guest speaker CDR Brian J. Sheakley, commanding officer Navy Operations Support Center Detroit, who lives in Royal Oak.

Also present were the St Paul's Adult Choir, Royal Oak Canadian Legion Maple Leaf Post 84, American Legion Frank Wendland Post 253, VFW Acorn Post 1669, Daughters of American Revolution, Benevolent Protective of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, Royal Oak Police Department Honor Guard and Royal Oak Fire Department Honor Guard.

Royal Oak High School students performed taps and the Ninth Kentucky Infantry gave a rifle salute.

Great day to Honor the Veterans. We had a great crowd, guest speaker & choir. Great job Judy & John on all the pictures.

The pleasure was all mine. It was a beautiful ceremony. And, I think I need to hire John. It is quite the photographer.
