Google Street Trike visits the Detroit Zoo July 18-19.

The Google Street Team brought the Google Trike to the Detroit Zoo on Monday and Tuesday as the result of a national contest.

Google asked its users to submit nominations for pedestrian-only locations they'd most like to see on its popular map feature in several categories, including theme parks and zoos. More than 15,000 voters said they wanted a virtual tour of the Detroit Zoo, beating out the San Diego Zoo and Universal Studios in Florida, among others.

The Google Street Trike is a three-wheeled pedi-cab equipped with digital cameras. Google technicians spent two days collecting digital images of the zoo's award-winning habitats and attractions, both indoors and out.

The imagery will be featured on Google Maps via Street View, which allows users to view panoramic, interactive street-level imagery of parks and trials, landmarks, university campuses and sport venues around the world.

Wonderful video. Wish I could have gotten a bit longer look at the joey in the kangaroos pouch, while the Google Trike was in the Australian Outback habitat.

Oh wow, you sure did Judy. That is too cute! Thanks much.

Eric, try again, as we have similar systems. This video runs very smoothly.

The video keeps stopping too much to enjoy. I tried pausing to let it cache the video like I do on Youtube but that still does not help. My connection is over 10Mbs so I know that it isn't my end.
