Last week, Patch announced the winners for the Winter Athlete of the Season. All winners of our weekly polls are eligible for the end of the season honors.

Vote for one of the following or write in your own candidate in the comments:

Dominic Valente – Royal Oak High School (baseball): Dominic Valente pitched a gem Friday for the Royal Oak High School baseball team in a 2-0 win over Troy. The senior only allowed three hits over seven shutout innings and finished the game with 10 strikeouts. At the plate, he reached base twice and scored both of the Ravens' runs.

Ian Kobernick – Berkley High School (baseball): Ian Kobernick did a little bit of everything for the Berkley High School baseball team this past week. On Tuesday, he reached base four times in a 10-6 win over Harrison. He went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two walks and two steals. The next day, he was at it again in a 11-5 win over Southfield. He was 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a double. He also was the winning pitcher, striking out six batters over four innings. In a doubleheader against Redford Union on Saturday, he was 4-for-6 with four RBIs and two stolen bases in two wins.

Lexie Brisson-Fast  – Ferndale High School (soccer): Lexie Brisson-Fast continued her hot start to the spring season in two games last week. She scored four goals in an 8-0 mercy rule victory over Pontiac on Tuesday. The senior came back Thursday with all four of her team’s goals in a 4-4 tie against Farmington. Brisson-Fast has 19 goals in 10 games this season.

Haley Zemmer – Troy Athens High School (softball): Haley Zemmer won three games last week for the Troy Athens varsity softball team. Zemmer pitched complete games in both games of a doubleheader against Groves on Wednesday. She won both, striking out 19 batters over two games. At the plate, she had an RBI double in the first game. Friday, in a rain shortened 9-0 win over Stoney Creek, Zemmer struck out nine batters in five scoreless innings.
