Winter Beer Fest Returns to Royal Oak on Saturday
Sampling event features over 100 Beers at the Royal Oak Music Theatre.
Winter Beer Fest returns for its fourth year to the Royal Oak Music Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 26. Presented by Westborn Market, beer lovers will be able to sample over 100 craft beers from around the globe, across the state, and down the street, while enjoying beer-inspired cuisine and live music by Detroit acoustic duo Reggie and Nick.
The event runs from 8 p.m. – midnight, and ages 21+ are welcome to attend. Tickets are just $40 in advance ($45 at the door) and include 25 beer samplings. A VIP ticket is also available this year, with an exclusive tasting hour at 7 p.m. VIP tickets are $70 in advance/$75 at the door. Proceeds will benefit Michigan-based nonprofit Camp Casey, a horseback-riding program for children with cancer.
As part of this year’s expanded Beer Fest, the Westborn Market Michigan Vendor Balcony will feature a dozen local vendors, including Johnny Secreto Foods, Dago Joe’s Pasta Sauce, and Westborn’s Own Authentic-Style Hummus, along with a variety of spices, sauces, and salty snack vendors, who will offer delicious beer-inspired cuisine for sampling. A ceremonial keg tapping will occur at 9:00pm, where representatives from Westborn Market and The City of Royal Oak will tap a special Winter Keg.
Whether you’re a fan of pale ales or pilsners, dark lagers or stouts, you’ll find a brew for every palate at Beer Fest. Showcasing over 100 brews, at least fifteen brand-new beers will be making their Michigan debut. Westborn Market is thrilled to present this year’s Fest, enthuses Marketing Director Bryan Bandyk. “Growth of the craft beer category is staggering in our retail stores, and sponsoring Beer Fest is a great opportunity to support that growth and our craft beer vendors,” says Bandyk, who notes that Westborn offers a “Mix Pak – Craft Your Own Six” special of select craft beers at their retail locations for $9.99. “There is a terrific local element at Beer Fest – from the beers and food products featured, to the venue itself being right in our Berkley location’s backyard,” he adds.
Proceeds from Winter Beer Fest 2013 will benefit Camp Casey, a 501c3 nonprofit horseback-riding program for children with cancer. Founded in 2003, Camp Casey is a Royal Oak-based nonprofit organization that offers three cost-free programs to children with cancer and their families. “Horsey House Calls” surprise children with a knock on the door and a horse on the doorstep for an afternoon of horse fun in the family's yard. “Cowboy Camp Outs” offer overnight getaways held at Michigan dude ranches. “Outlaw Outings” provide family-oriented activities without expense or hassle.
Whether a serious beer connoisseur or a weekend warrior – brew lovers will not want to miss Winter Beer Fest at the Royal Oak Music Theatre!
