Art, local businesses, government and philanthropy came together for the Woodward Royal Oak Tribute on Thursday.

Mayor Jim Ellison welcomed guests, along with Chef Luciano Del Signore and artist Kyle Evans, at Pizzeria Biga—the new 3,100-square-foot restaurant in the St. Clair Edison building, one of the oldest commercial structures in Royal Oak.

Evans designed the Woodward Royal Oak Tribute, a 30-foot, solar-powered glass and concrete sculpture. It will be installed in the Woodward Avenue median just south of 13 Mile Road this summer.

Organizers were hoping to raise close to $13,500 at the event.
