Community Corner

Last call for chili cook-off entries!

A few spots are still available for individuals or community groups interested in competing in the South Oakland Chili Cook-Off, presented by the Royal Oak Jaycees on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Royal Oak Farmers Market.

The entry fee for individuals and community groups has been reduced to $25, but space is limited, and the Jaycees will accept entrants on a first-come, first-served basis.

To inquire about entering, email southoaklandchilicookoff@gmail.com or call (248) 457-5292.

Individual/community group participants must provide a minimum of 4-5 gallons of chili, which must be prepared at a licensed commercial ServSafe kitchen provided by the Jaycees. They must also be available to distribute their chili to attendees of the chili cook-off between 6 PM and 10 PM Sept. 21. Complete rules and entry forms are available at www.southoaklandchilicookoff.com

Proceeds from the South Oakland Chili Cook-Off will benefit local the Boys & Girls Club of South Oakland County, the Royal Oak Parks and Recreation Dept. and the Royal Oak Jaycees.
