Local Virtual School Principal Receives 2014 International Distance Learning Award

Michigan Connections Academy’s school leader has been honored by the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) with a 2014 International Distance Learning Award. Bryan Klochack, principal of the full-time, tuition-free, virtual public school for students in grades K-12, received the “Outstanding Leadership by an Individual in the Field of Distance Learning” award in the Online Technology K-12 Education category.

 

Klochack, a veteran educator and online learning advocate, has led the statewide (and Okemos-based) Michigan Connections Academy since the school’s opening in 2011.

“I am incredibly proud of this recognition from USDLA. Michigan Connections Academy is a high-quality schooling option for the parents and students of Michigan and I am proud that we are able to provide this as a viable choice to families,” Klochack said.

Klochack has more than 20 years of experience in teaching and administration and leads the professional education team at Michigan Connections Academy. While he has background in both public and private brick-and-mortar schools, his advanced degrees equipped him to continue developing the school’s unique learning environment. Klochack is especially proud of the school’s focus on individualized instruction delivered by exceptional, highly-qualified teachers who believe all students can learn.

 

The USDLA’s International Distance Learning Awards are the world's most prestigious distance learning awards.  Presented annually to individuals and organizations engaged in the development and delivery of distance learning programs, the Awards recognize major accomplishments in distance learning and highlight those distance learning instructors, programs, and professionals who have achieved and demonstrated extraordinary results through the use of online, videoconferencing, satellite and blended learning delivery technologies.
