On Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 7:00pm, the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) and the Animals and Society Institute (ASI) will co-host “Save you, save me” presented by Dr. Pete Porter, Associate Professor of Theatre & Film at Eastern Washington University. The event will be held at The Baldwin Theatre located at 415 S. Lafayette Avenue (between Fourth and Sixth streets) in Royal Oak.
Dr. Porter will discuss the question of “who is truly saved” through films, e.g., A Dolphin Tale, Buck and Big Miracle; how they make a strong case for extending the human circle of compassion to include non-humans; and how mutual healing occurs when people rescue animals. Film clips will be shown. Discussion and Q&A to follow. Light refreshments will be provided. Join us!
