Taking down the Juggernaut

In a world seemingly dominated by review sites like Yelp, people don’t often stop to think about the drawbacks. Yet upon inspection, it’s evident that Yelp is damaging for both businesses and customers alike. Why, you ask?

  1. Like the mafia, Yelp sales representatives promise to remove negative reviews from the pages of business owners...for a price. A hefty one at that. And for the business owners who refuse? They could suddenly find themselves cheated out of their positive reviews, leaving only negative ones or none at all.
  2. The Yelp Elite often make long-winded, often “negative just to hear myself talk” reviews that make searching for a great restaurant downright frustrating.
  3. People just don't think in terms of 5 star ratings!

For Omeid Seirfafi-pour, an alum from the University of Michigan, this was all too much to bear. Which is why he created myfab5, a website and app that’s revolutionizing the way people find, rank, and share their favorite local restaurants by making the process as quick and easy as possible. So help a local start-up get off the ground and show San Francisco who’s boss by visiting myfab5.com!
