The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts is making another call to artists for applications to have their work displayed in the downtown area for a year beginning in July 2014

The deadline for the Art Explored, a year-round public art program supported by local art exhibits, is June 1. For an application, go here. >>>

Currently, nine pieces of art have been installed around downtown.

Artists selected for the outdoor exhibit will receive a $600 honorarium. Artwork will be accompanied by plaques identifying the artwork, artist and directing users to the Art Explored web page, which will feature an artist’s statement, picture of the art and a link to the artist’s web site.

Artists are also encouraged to suggest locations for exhibits with their applications.

If the artist’s work is sold during the exhibit, the artist will be required to pay a 25 percent commission to the Royal Oak Commission for the Arts to help sustain Art Explored and similar projects in the future.
