Beaumont Health System Named Elite Winner by Michigan's Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies

Nominated companies were evaluated based upon criteria to improve their sustainable program effectiveness.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder demonstrated the importance of sustainability in the current business climate by kicking off today’s 101 Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies™ event. The event presented by the Michigan Business and Professional Association recognizes those companies that are focused on being more sustainable and improving their local and global environment. Only two companies were crowned with an Elite designation out of all of today’s Best and Brightest Sustainable winning companies.

Now in its second year, the 101 Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies awards program is the premier program that celebrates organizations that are making their workplaces, their employees and the community a healthier place to live and work.

Nominated companies were put through a thorough examination based upon six criteria to benchmark and improve their sustainable program effectiveness: Education, Communication, Strategic Planning & Operational Implementation, Innovation & Problem Solving, Building & Grounds, Community Leadership, Workforce and Financial Performance. Each company’s entry was evaluated based on a point system; those receiving the highest points in relation to the company’s sustainable initiatives category are selected as the winners. This year’s elite winners excelled in all criteria required.

“When companies have a commitment to the greater good of the environment, they demonstrate their commitment to the future. Our sustainable winners have realized that their actions as a business has a lasting impact on the community in which they serve,” said Jennifer Kluge, MBPA president. “We were very impressed with this year’s Elite winners and their dedication to a more sustainable world.”
