Beaumont’s Michalski Named a ‘CEO to Know’ by Becker’s Hospital Review

Gene Michalski, president and chief executive officer of Beaumont Health System, has been named to Becker Hospital Review’s national list of “130 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know.”

Explains Molly Gamble with Becker’s Hospital Review, “The presidents and CEOs on this list have not only led their health care organizations in clinical and financial performance, but they have also shown commitment to the communities they serve. These leaders have garnered respect in the health care industry based on their experience and achievements.”

Becker Hospital Review also named Michalski to their “100 Nonprofit Hospital, Health System CEOs to Know” list in 2012.

Presently, Michalski serves on the Greater Detroit Chamber’s board of directors. He is a former member of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association’s board. Michalski is also past president of the American Cancer Society, Oakland County Chapter; and past president of the Midwest Healthcare Executive Group and Associates.

A native Detroiter, Michalski is a former recipient of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association “Health Care Leadership Award;” and was named a Crain’s Detroit Business 2012 “Newsmaker of the Year.”

Michalski is the fifth president and CEO of Beaumont Health System, appointed June 1, 2010. He previously held the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer from 2006 to 2010. He served as senior vice president and director, Beaumont Hospital, Troy from 1997 to 2006.

He also held the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Ill. from 1992 to 1996.
