Beauty Meets the Beast at The Dream Cruise

Cruise-goers will see more than "the boys of summer" revving their engines on Woodward.

Marianne Peggie of Troy, co-founder of the Chicks With Classics car club, has been driving her 1961 Thunderbird convertible in the Woodward Dream Cruise since the very first one. "I drive this beauty as much as I can and I love to be out at the Dream Cruise," Peggie said.

Her convertible was made on May 26, 1961 at the Wixom Assembly Plant. This is truly a classic, Peggie said. "JFK had 50 of them in his 1961 inauguration," she said.

More than 80 women are involved in the club and most can be seen cruisin’ Woodward Avenue.

Others, like Lucy DiNardo of Pittsburgh, simply love the classics.  She drove her 1956 Dodge Coronet to the Dream Cruise all the way from the Steel City.  This is her third year at the cruise. She proudly shares a photograph of her and her classic from the 2010 Woodward Dream Cruise Book. "We wouldn't miss the cruise!" DiNardo said.
