Charlotte Ponce Returns to Beaumont for More Plastic Surgery

It's been a year since the 11-year-old Spring Lake girl had her first surgery to rebuild her nose.

Friday, 4:50 p.m.: Charlotte Ponce's surgery Friday was a success, reports Sharon Ponce, Charlotte's mother.

"The doctor talked to us and said everything went well," Ponce said. "He wasn't able to do as much as he hoped, but what he did do he said turned out fine."

Dr. Kongkrit Chaiyasate, director of Reconstructive Microsurgery at Beaumont Hospital, was able to do fat grafting to Charlotte's right cheek.

Friday, 11 a.m.:
Charlotte Ponce is back at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak today for lip scar revision and fat grafting to her right cheek.

The 11-year-old Spring Lake girl, disfigured by a raccoon attack as an infant, has had a half-dozen surgeries to rebuild her nose.

"Everyone asks if she gets nervous about going to the hospital after having so many surgeries," said Sharon Ponce, Charlotte's mother. "She actually likes coming here. I think she likes all the attention."

It's been a year, since Charlotte's first plastic surgery. She no longer has restrictions and can ride her bike, swim and play in the sun.
