If you've recently received a notice about increasing your address visibility in case of emergency, it's not an official request from the city of Royal Oak, according to Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue.
"The City of Royal Oak does not allow painting addresses on curbs," O'Donohue said.
Residents report "Curb Service" notices are being duct taped to mailboxes. The flyer makes it seem as though having your address painted on your curb will assist police and firefighters in locating your house in the case of an emergency. The notice indicates there is a $20 charge for the service.
"I would discourage anyone from actually leaving money," O'Donohue said.
