Donations Pour In for Dondero Grad Who Passed Away Unexpectedly

Chad Coker, a father of four with one more on the way, passed away on Dec. 3. Coker, 33, grew up in Royal Oak.

Donations are pouring in for a disabled veteran without life insurance who passed away unexpectedly last week.

An online campaign to help the family of Chad Coker has brought in more than $5,000 in just two days.

"I'm asking for love and support from the Royal Oak community to help this young family. Chad grew up in Royal Oak and attended Dondero High School," wrote Jennifer Merian to Royal Oak Patch. "Any and all support is welcomed."

The campaign hopes to raise $6,000.

Nancy Coker Solecki created the fundraiser on http://www.gofundme.com/5m88gc GoFundMe.com. The page reads:

Chad Coker passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2013 at just 33 years old.

Chad was a devoted husband and father to his four precious children, Christian (15), Theron (5), Honor (4), and Decklyn (2). The day before his death, he and his expectant wife Laura went to their ultrasound and he was blessed to meet his daughter Olivea who is due the end of January 2014.

Chad adored and cherished his family above all and would want to know they are being loved and cared for. Many people have asked how they can help since Chad was a disabled veteran and without life insurance. We would love to help Laura with support for the children and some baby items, if you feel led to give a donation, please know that your gift is sincerely appreciated. Thank you so much for all your prayers, love and support during this very devastating time.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
