Elmo and Cookie Monster Deliver Giggles to Kids at Beaumont

Sesame Street Live's Elmo and Cookie Monster spread some cheer in Royal Oak.

Elmo and Cookie Monster stopped at Beaumont Children's Hospital on Tuesday to perform a special routine for patients and prove that laughter truly is the best medicine.

"This makes the experience of being in the hospital a lot easier," said Lisa Smith of Waterford, whose son Riley, 3, is a patient. "To see him smile makes what we are going through a lot easier."

After sharing hugs with the children, the Sesame Street characters performed a dance routine in the pediatric garden before making their rounds to patients' individual rooms.

The stop is the final community appearance for the duo in town for "Can't Stop Singing" at the Fox Theatre. The razzle-dazzle musical montage is playing through Feb. 17.
