Letter: Locker Room Crime Watch Alert is Unsettling

LA Fitness alerts patrons to to lock their valuables in their trunk, according to reader.

The following was written by Virginia Robinson and shared with Royal Oak Patch:

A trip to LA Fitness Royal Oak this morning was interesting. I have always locked all my belongings in a locker when I am there and used a personal lock. But based on the crime reports from the police department, even locked lockers aren't safe at this location.

So I was greeted by a stop sign sticker and a crime watch alert note in the locker. After reading those, I was paranoid the entire time I was showering about my locked locker being broken into. I can't believe they actually go as far as to tell people to lock their valuables in their trunk!

This location is notorious for having cars broken into. I have never seen an employee monitoring the parking lot and rarely see them in the locker room. I was in the locker room for an hour this morning and never once saw an employee. There were definitely a few women who were just loitering with no real purpose for being there. LA Fitness needs to take a serious look at their safety practices.

I will not be going to this location again. Where the heck am I supposed to leave my purse when I am on the treadmill?

So as a public service announcement, if you go to LA Fitness Royal Oak, think about going to one of their other locations and don't bring anything you can't carry with you the whole time you are there.
