New Playscape at Starr Jaycee Park Almost Done

Unless there are weather or other unforeseen delays, the new playscape should be ready by August.

A new play structure under construction in Starr Jaycee Park should be completed by August, in time for kids to enjoy it before school starts up again in the fall.

The park is located at 13 Mile Road and Crooks Road, within a few miles of an indoor ice rink, an indoor soccer field and Royal Oak High School, all of which makes it a prime spot for groups of people to meet or individuals to enjoy a variety of recreational activities.

The park is also within easy walking distance of several residential neighborhood, making it a favorite for picnics and other events under the wooden pavilions.

Residents are eagerly awaiting the opening of the new playscape.

“Now that I’m a Royal Oak resident, I’ll have a blast at the new park playscape,” Paul Antonini posted on the City of Royal Oak Facebook page. “Hurry up crew, we’re waiting.”

Another resident, Larissa Heap, said the park has been a favorite of hers since she was a child. “I can see that Starr Jaycee might just be my kids’ favorite, too,” she wrote on the Facebook page. “Thank you for providing such a fantastic place for our kids to play.”
