Corvettes, canned goods, concerts and more planned for Dream Cruise

Corvette Club delivers food

Wednesday, the Corvette Club delivered thousands of pounds of food to the Open Hands Food Pantry at in Royal Oak. Club members also donated money to this worthy cause aiiding residents of our community.

Bruce Donigan, a volunteer with Open Hands Food Pantry, said this is the third year that the Corvette Club has donated, and each year it has gotten bigger.

“On the Wednesday of Dream Cruise week club members meet at the Radisson Hotel on Woodward in Bloomfield Hills. Then they parade up Woodward in their Corvettes - along with a truck packed with food - and deliver their donations to the Open Hands Food Pantry,” said Donigan.

The pantry is staffed by volunteers and relies completely on monetary and food contributions. It serves more than 10,000 people in a year and is open on Mondays 1-3:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Shrine Parish party

will host its Parish Dream Cruise Party starting at 4 p.m. Friday in the (Woodward Avenue) parking lot. The party lasts until the Cruise shuts down for the evening.

There will be music and fun activities for kids and adults. Depending on one’s age and choice of entrée, dinner prices will range from $4-$7.

Dream Cruise Worship and concert

Bring blankets and lawn chairs and cruise to worship at Cana Lutheran Evangelical Church’s annual Dream Cruise Worship.

The very casual outdoor worship service is at 10 a.m. Sunday featuring musical guest Water to Wine.

Later, bring your lawn chairs and blankets and come back to Cana Lutheran at 7 p.m. for the free concert, Sounds of Summer. The music will be provided by STAGE Youth Band and other Lutheran worship bands. Participating Lutheran churches include Cana, Emmanuel, Peace, Prince of Glory and Trinity. A concession stand will be available.
