Child Care Directory: Picking a Preschool in Royal Oak

The Royal Oak Public Library's 15th annual Royal Oak Area Preschool and Child Care Directory is designed to help parents searching for the perfect early childhood education option for their little ones.

The information in the directory was supplied by the individual agencies. The list does not contain every preschool and child care facility in the area. Inclusion in this directory does not imply endorsement or recommendation.

The State of Michigan’s website has useful information about how to choose a child care provider. Go to www.michigan.gov/childcare and click on “Parents.” The website explains different types of child care settings and how to evaluate which is best suited for your needs. A good child care setting respects children, parents, and caregivers; has open and ongoing communication; and a shared plan for the well-being of the children.

Questions about this directory and the planned 16th edition of the Royal Oak Area Preschool and Child Care Directory should be directed to Marie Newcomb, Youth Services Librarian, Royal Oak Public Library at 248-246-3725 or marie@ropl.org.

Are there any online resources where parents share reviews of childcare/toddler schooling options in our area? I would really like to hear what parents experiences have been with Ferndale Montessori, Harmony Montessori, the Spanish Montessori in Clawson, Temple Emanu-el, and others.
