Royal Oak Chili Cook Off This Saturday
Local restaurants face off in annual chili cook-off.
The weather may be cooling off, but the Royal Oak Jaycees will bring a little heat to the city with the third annual Royal Oak Chili Cook-Off from 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday at the Royal Oak Farmers Market.
Local restaurants will enter their chili into the competition to earn of one of several titles, including Best of the Best (determined by a group of guest “celebrity” judges), Spiciest, People’s Choice, Jaycees’ Choice, Best Vegetarian and Most Original. This year’s participating restaurants include Lily's Seafood Grill & Brewery, BlackFinn American Saloon, Bagger Dave’s and Hamlin’s Corner.
“We’re thrilled to have some great local restaurants step up and compete in this year’s cook-off,” said Royal Oak Chili Cook-Off Chairperson Jennifer Sakey. “Every chef puts their own spin on the chili that they enter, so it’s always fun to see – and taste – their creations.”

“Last year we were able to donate $1,000 to each of these organizations” said Bridget Smith-Botos, Royal Oak Jaycees Vice President of Community Development. “We hope we are able to increase that significantly this year."
