Zombie Walk Moves to Detroit for 2013

After two back-to-back years in Royal Oak, the annual Zombie Walk moves to Detroit.

Last October, more than 300 zombies were willing to endure the drizzling rain while roaming the streets of downtown Royal Oak as part of World Zombie Day.

This year the zombies will gather in Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.; the walk begins at 4 p.m.

Now it it's sixth year, the Zombie Walk, which is put together every year by Gleaners Community Food Bank to collect donations of funds and nonperishable foods, has taken place in Royal Oak (2009, 20011 and 2012), Ferndale (2008) and Detroit (2010).

In 2012, Royal Oak zombies donated 1,422 pounds of food and more than $4,200 in funds, according to the Zombie Walk Detroit website.
