5 Cool Things to Do This Weekend

Music, benefits, comedy, film and more on tap in Royal Oak.

Looking for something to stimulate the senses this weekend? We've got a few suggestions for your eyes and ears.

1. Don't miss the Martinis and Mistletoe Party at Royal Oak's Goodnite Gracie, 224 S. Sherman, on Thursday. This festive party will benefit Lighthouse of Oakland County. Hear some of Detroit's hottest recording artists, including Brandon Calhoon, Joey Spina, JC Westwood, Carolyn Striho and more. Santa and his elves will also be in the house to pose for photos and find out if you've been naughty or nice. The party runs 7 p.m.-12:30 a.m. and there is no cover charge. Enjoy $4 Zodiac Vodka specials all night long, plus complimentary appetizers 7-8 p.m. 

2. Have some laughs with Michigan native David Dyer at , 310 S. Troy St., Thursday-Saturday. He will be joined by special guest Tim Costello. Dyer has been featured on The Bob and Tom Show and in opening acts for top comedians such as Drew Carey, Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan. 5. Sunday night, , 100 S. Main St., will be heating things up with the Forbes Brothers Holiday Jam beginning at 8 p.m. The Forbes Brothers take country to the next level by mixing it with rock, hip-hop and soul. They've shared the stage with acts such as Diamond Rio, George Jones, Tanya Tucker, Lee Ann Womack, Lonestar, The Kentucky Headhunters, Trace Adkins and many others.
