Royal Oaker Takes Home 2 Grammys

Black Keys sweep rock categories. Fun wins Best New Artist.

A duo from Akron took home three Grammys Sunday night, while a trio with a Royal Oak connection wins Best New Artist.

The Black Keys swept rock categories winning Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for "Lonely Boy" and Best Rock Album for "El Camino."

Right on their tail was the band Fun., taking home two Grammys—Best New Artist and Song of the Year for "We are Young."

Royal Oaker Andrew Dost is one-third (Nate Ruess and Jack Antonoff are the others) of Fun. The the indie pop act was also nominated for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Choral Performance.

After Fun. sang their new single "Carry On," Royal Oak Patch Facebook reader Sarah Rupp Pedini wrote, "They were awesome!"

"You know they are my favorite," wrote Kate Reynolds.

"He (Dost) lives in Royal Oak," added Kelly Aulph.

The night had another local connection. Detroit native Jack White was nominated for three Grammys. White walked away empty-handed but received a standing ovation for his performance of "Love Interruption."
