Comedy Castle Hosts 'Comedy for a Cause' with Emcee Dick Purtan

The Radiothon is the nonprofit's largest fundraiser for the Salvation Army's Bed & Bread Program.

Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle in Royal Oak is hosting the 3rd annual Comedy for a Cause, a night of entertainment, laughter and charity featuring comedian, ventriloquist, musician and entertainer Taylor Mason on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be emceed by radio Hall of Famer Dick Purtan.

An all-around entertainer, Taylor Mason’s quick wit, flawless delivery and polished material make him a hit with audiences of all ages. Mason has won many prestigious entertainment awards, appeared on a myriad of television programs and even wrote a book about ventriloquism. Although his routine will be clean, the Feb. 11 event is only open to adults age 18 and up.  

Tickets are available for $25 by calling Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle at 248-542-9900. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle is located at 310 S. Troy St. in Royal Oak.

Comedy for a Cause is a precursor to the 27th annual Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club Radiothon. All proceeds from this event will be presented during the daylong broadcast, airing live on News/Talk 760 WJR from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 at Oakland Mall in Troy.

About The Salvation Army Bed & Bread Program

The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit’s Bed & Bread Program serves more than 5,000 meals each day to men, women and children who would otherwise go without. That’s more than 1.8 million meals every year. In addition, The Bed & Bread Program provides shelter to more than 400 homeless individuals each night, nearly 160,000 nights of shelter annually.
