Autumn in Royal Oak is an enjoyable time of year with lots of fun things happening in the area. Here's a few events that are going on this weekend that promise to be a good time.

When/where: 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday,
Why go: Gary Gulman is a comic who can keep the laughs rolling nonstop. Gulman has appeared on Comedy Central's Last Comic Standing, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the HBO series Tourgasm, where he starred alongside Dane Cook.

When/where: 1 p.m. Saturday,
Why go: Come take part in a bit of history at the Royal Oak Library. A time capsule representing life in Royal Oak in 2011 will be buried during the city's 90th year. The capsule will be dug up on the city's 125th anniversary in 2046.

When/where: 5 p.m. Saturday,
Why go: The Royal Oak Farmers Market will host a child-friendly fundraiser for the Royal Oak Boys and Girls Club and Youth Assistance. The event will feature four bands: 3-D Invisibles, Candy Band, Rhymezwell and the Troublemakers. There will also be crafts, mini-bowling, rock-star photos (with hairstylist on hand), food and drink.

Why go: Lift Toys will feature an exhibit of custom toys. This event will benefit The Art Experience of Pontiac. The opening reception runs from 7-10 p.m., and the exhibit will be on display through Oct. 22.
