Patch picks for the weekend as summer winds down.

Summer is winding down and back to school is looming ahead. It's time to get out and enjoy the weekend. Here are some ideas:

This Arts, Beats & Eats preview party raises money for 10 charities in Royal Oak and Metro Detroit. The event will feature food samplings of 50 Metro Detroit restaurants, live music and strolling illusionists.

Why go:
Enjoy an adults-only twilight stroll among the wild at the Detroit Zoo. Live music will be performed at the Rackham fountain featuring the Kris Johnson Group. Food and adult beverages will be available for purchase.
Pricing: $8 admission plus $5 parking (parking is free for zoo members)
