Get Out: Sunset at the Zoo, Stagecrafters, Sangria and More

There is a lot to do this weekend. What will you choose?

With summer comes all kinds of festivals, fundraisers and fun in the sun. Here are some that caught our attention for this weekend:

1. 

Where/when: 7 p.m. Friday, the 
Why go:
Because you can party like it’s 65,000,000 B.C.! The theme of this year’s gala event is inspired by its summer Dinosauria experience. The 21-and-over, rain-or-shine soiree features a strolling supper by 40 restaurants, zoo-themed martinis, music by Larry Lee and Back in the Day, dancing, live and silent auctions and access to animal habitats and Dinosauria at twilight. Note: The Zoo closes at 2 p.m. in preparation for the festivities.

Where/when: 2 p.m. Saturday, , Friends Auditorium
Why go: The film is about a newlywed couple that hosts a New Year's Eve party. As the guests begin to arrive they are in various states of discord, along with the arrival of a surprise guest,  the very young and beautiful Helena (Gillian Jacobs). As the evening continues, the newlyweds must try to keep things from spiraling out of control and their marriage from falling apart.

When/where: 1-6 p.m. Saturday, Vintner's Cellar
Why go: Enjoy pampering with spa treatments such as massages and pedicures while sampling sangria (white or red).

When/Where: Saturday, noon-4 p.m. and and 5-9 p.m., Stagecrafters Baldwin Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette Ave.
Why go: Get in on the ground floor of exciting new works at the festival, now in its seventh year. Through a "call for scripts," playwrights submit their unpublished, short works for review by a committee of selected directors, seasoned actors and amateur playwrights. The New Works Play Festival provides an exclusive view of the “page to stage” process.  Visit www.stagecrafters.org for the plays selected for performance.

Where/when: 8 p.m. Saturday, , 318 W. Fourth St.
Why go: Expand your musical palate with music from Borgore along with special guests Serax, Item 9 and Lady Reign. Boregore plays dubstep influenced with nuances of metal and triplet drum patterns.
