Saturday: Your Guide to Arts, Beats & Eats

From Zumba world records to music by the Howling Diablos, here's a guide to everything Saturday at the festival.

The Arts, Beats & Eats Festival kicked off in near-100-degree heat on Friday, but that didn't keep the crowds away on the first of the four-day Labor Day festival, now in its second year in Royal Oak. From the cto the , thousands of festivalgoers enjoyed the first and typically lightest attendance day at ABE. 

Here's what's on tap Saturday:

Festival hours: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Zumba Challenge: to Zumba for at least 30 minutes in an attempt to make the Guinness World Records book. Those interested can check in at 9:30 a.m. at the Michigan Lottery stage at Sixth and Main streets. On-site registration costs $3 and includes all-day admission to Arts, Beats & Eats. Free parking and shuttles are available at . Oh, and the post office will unveil the at the Zumba attempt.

The Run for the Arts 5K race for runners and walkers takes off at 9 a.m. from  Starr Jaycee Park on 13 mile just east of Crooks. The race raises money to support arts education in Michigan schools.

Donate food, get in free: Saturday is the last day to stop by Citizens Bank and worth two days' admission to the festival.

Local legend Johnny B and The Howling Diablos will close out the night with a 9:30 p.m. appearance on the Budweiser Rock Stage.  The Howling Diablos are a combination of funk and soul, perfect for a steamy evening. Other acts include:

4 p.m.: Stewart Francke (Americana/Rock)

5 p.m.: Beatlemania Live (Beatles Tribute)

7:15 p.m.: Lou Gramm of Foreigner (Rock)

9 p.m.: Saving Abel (Rock)

10:15 p.m.: Bret Michaels (Rock)

If you go

Parking: There are four parking structures and several lots in the festival area. All downtown lots and structures cost $15 to park   through Monday. If you are looking for a deal, on Woodward south of 12 Mile and l located at 1500 Lexington, off of Crooks, and north of 13 Mile both cost $10.

Weather: There's a 40 percent chance of rain, according to the Weather Channel, and scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast for Saturday. High is expected to be 91.
