Sip, Savor, Stomp – and Stock Up – on Great Wine at Friday's Royal Oak Farmers Market

With more than 150 wines available for sampling and purchase, great Michigan eats and music by the Cosmic Groove, there's something for everyone at bi-annual event benefitting the AIDS Walk of Detroit.

Sip, Savor, Stomp should add another “S” to its alliterative handle: Stock up.

With more than 150 wines ranging in price from affordable to extravagant available for tasting and purchase at discounted prices Friday at the Royal Oak Farmers Market, 316 E. Mile Road, it’s the perfect time to stock up.

Friday's event is the 3rd Bi-annual Sip Savor Stomp. The event, which is presented by Westborn Markets, and includes wines from around the world, including including some the best wines from Napa and other regions of California, pinot grigios and cabernets from all over the world, and seclections of both white and red wines from  France, Argentina, Chile, and Italy.

Michigan wines will also be offered, along with “Made in Michigan” delicacies like artisan cheeses, chocolates, coffees and wine-inspired cuisine from area restaurants and Michigan vendors.

The event runs from 8-11:30 p.m., with a limited-quantity VIP session beginning at 7 p.m. Grand Tasting tickets are $45 and include tasting cup, 15 1-oz sampling tickets and program guide.

VIP Tasting tickets are $65 and allow for a one-hour relaxed atmosphere in which to sample both premium and select wines before the Grand Tasting admission begins, and 20 1-oz sampling tickets. “

“Designated Driver” tickets are available for $10 and must accompany a paid attendee.

Other features include music by the Cosmic Groove band will provide music, and live and silent auctions. Guests will be served bread, cheese and chocolate to enhance their wine tasting throughout the event.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit AIDS Walk Detroit, a Michigan-based organization that provides financial support for programs in HIV prevention, education and services for HIV positive individuals. The organization promotes public awareness through events and activities to ensure people living with HIV/AIDS are treated with dignity and respect.
