St. Mary Second-Grader is Finalist in Art Contest

Winners of the "Let's Make Ships Greener" International Art Contest announced.

Lola Ternberge, a second-grader at St. Mary Royal Oak School, is a finalist in the 2013 “Let’s Make Ships Greener” International Art Contest sponsored by JASON Learning, the North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA) and the United States Coast Guard.

Each year, students in grades K-12 throughout the world are invited to create artwork on a theme related to the marine environment, according to a press release. This year students were asked how they would make shipping cleaner and/or more energy efficient and to create an original poster.

Lola's artwork, along with the work of 11 other students, will be featured in a calendar.
